Air defense: France and Turkey join forces

Turkish (Turkey) and French Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emmanuel Macron discussed the implementation of the SAMP-T air defense systems joint production project on Saturday, says a message posted on the Turkish leader’s administration’s Twitter page. . “President Erdogan has come out in favor of implementing the project based on the principle of full openness,” the text reads.

Turkish authorities have previously said they expect to soon sign an agreement with Italy and France on the production of the system. The possibility of a project in Turkey is not excluded. The European Eurosam consortium is the developer and manufacturer of SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile systems. The system is designed for the circular protection of objects on the ground from a massive air attack, taking into account the possibility of the use of drones by the enemy and the creation of radio-electronic interference.

The basic version of the SAMP-T is a ground defense system that uses a two-stage rocket with an active radar guidance warhead capable of hitting targets at low altitudes and on an aeroballistic trajectory. The maximum range of defeat is up to 120 km, the altitude varies from 50 meters to 20 km.

Migrants: Unlike Rwanda, Turkey says no to UK

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic (Turkey) on Saturday expressed astonishment at British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss’s remarks about plans to send illegal migrants to Turkey. According to Tanju Bilgic, Turkey will not become “a refugee camp”. Liz Truss said that illegal migrants would be sent to Turkey as well as to Rwanda pending the examination of their asylum applications.

“According to the British media referring to the British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, if she is elected Prime Minister, she will ask for the application in respect of our country of an agreement on illegal refugees similar to the agreement with Rwanda. We hope that this information does not correspond to reality”, indicates the press release of the spokesman of the Turkish diplomacy.

He stressed that it could not be about the transformation of Turkey, which for the past eight years has hosted the largest number of migrants in the world, into a “refugee camp”. “This approach is incompatible with international asylum standards,” he added.
